Düsseldorf-based corporate learning provider X-CELL AG and STRABAG SE have been honoured with the eLearning AWARD 2026. The prize was awarded for the joint project "Building Inclusion at STRABAG - breaking down barriers for more equality, diversity & inclusion". The jury of the eLearning Journal honoured an innovative learning concept that sustainably anchors equality, diversity and inclusion in the day-to-day work of an international group.
The aim of the project was to bring STRABAG's group-wide EDI strategy to life for over 86,000 employees worldwide. X-CELL and STRABAG jointly developed two clearly differentiated, target group-specific e-learning programmes: one for managers in their role as culture bearers and multipliers, and one for all employees who contribute to inclusion through their daily actions. Both training programmes focus on storytelling, gamification and scenario-based learning. Instead of theoretical knowledge transfer, the focus is on interactive decisions and realistic everyday situations.
The development was carried out in close partnership: STRABAG provided the strategic and technical expertise, while X-CELL was responsible for the didactic concept, visual design and technical implementation. Following pilot phases and feedback loops, the training courses were rolled out in ten languages and introduced internationally.
The high level of acceptance confirms the success of the approach: over 500 evaluations with an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 points were submitted during the pilot phase, and the participation rate among managers was almost 100 per cent.
With the eLearning AWARD 2026, the jury honours a project that shows how digital learning can support cultural change and make diversity & inclusion an effective experience.
