TSG Hoffenheim and X-CELL launch an e-learning course on ‘Child and Youth Protection’

The online training is aimed at anyone who works with children and young people, and supports them in fulfilling their special responsibilities.

The Düsseldorf-based corporate learning provider X-CELL AG has developed an e-learning course on the topic of ‘child and youth protection’ in collaboration with TSG Hoffenheim. The online training is aimed at everyone within the TSG organisation who comes into contact with children and young people. The aim is to raise awareness of the special responsibilities involved in sport, to develop an instinct for recognising sensitive situations and to provide confidence in taking appropriate action.

The protection of children and young people begins with paying attention. It is not always immediately obvious that a child needs help. Even when children or young people try to confide in someone, their signals are not always immediately recognised or taken seriously. It can take up to nine attempts before an affected child is heard. This makes it all the more important for adults to look out, listen and know how to respond appropriately.

In sport in particular, close relationships of trust develop between young people and their coaches or supervisors. TSG Hoffenheim therefore regards the protection of children and young people not merely as a key responsibility, but as a matter close to its heart. The e-learning programme developed in collaboration with X-CELL addresses precisely this: It raises awareness of potential breaches of boundaries and concerning behaviour, supports participants in reflecting on their own behaviour, and explains what to do in the event of a suspected incident or an emergency. Learners also find out which reporting channels and points of contact are available within TSG Hoffenheim.

During development, TSG Hoffenheim’s technical requirements and structures were combined with X-CELL’s didactic and digital learning expertise. The result is a practical online training programme that conveys a sensitive topic in a clear and action-oriented manner and can be accessed anytime, anywhere.

With this new e-learning programme, X-CELL and TSG Hoffenheim have created a learning resource that helps to embed the protection of children and young people firmly within the organisation’s culture – ensuring that people pay attention, listen and know what to do at the crucial moment.
